My name is Evgenia (or Eugenia). I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, in August 2020. I am Greek and was born and raised in Kalamata, a city in the southern part of mainland Greece, widely known for its olives and often described as a paradise on earth—making me feel fortunate to have grown up there. In 2006, I moved to Patras to study at the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics at the University of Patras, where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering. During my senior undergraduate years, Professor Efstratios Gallopoulos introduced me to research, an experience that played a key role in shaping my academic trajectory. In 2016, I joined Purdue University as a Ph.D. student under the supervision of Professor Petros Drineas. After completing my doctorate, I gained valuable experience in industry. In 2025, I decided to return to academia, first as an Adjunct Assistant Professor and currently as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the High Performance Computing Laboratory of the University of Patras, under the supervision of Professors Panagiotis Hadjidoukas and Efstratios Gallopoulos. This period, my research direction has increasingly shifted toward High Performance Computing (HPC). However the heart of my research still focuses on Randomized Numerical Linear Algebra (RandNLA), with a strong emphasis on HPC. I am particularly interested in developing scalable algorithms and software that leverage modern HPC architectures to address large-scale problems. More broadly, my work explores the combination of statistical/probability methods and Numerical Linear Algebra techniques, enabling efficient solutions for challenges arising in big data analytics and Scientific Computing. More information about my background and research can be found in my CV. |
